(February 2009) Baconnaise is a bacon flavored vegetarian mayonnaise spread [1]. Baconnaise comes in regular and light varieties [2]. History Baconnaise was invented in 2008 by The product is a noted example of a Web based product launch, marketing, and distribution, undertaken by individual inventors. Its inventors claim to rely on self-generated and customer-generated Web content, such as YouTube videos, for publicity. In October, 2008, the creators sponsored a no-holds barred wrestling match between a giant slice of bacon and a giant jar of mayonnaise that wrestle in a ring filled with 200 gallons of mayonnaise[3]. Baconnaise was satirized on an episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in late February as an example of Americans' laziness, although some say the true meaning of the lampoon was to point out Americans' growing appetite for unhealthy foods, as bacon and mayonnaise are both widely believed to have some detrimental health effects. Stewart is pointing out the absurdity of combining two such unhealthy foods into one. He further made a mockery of it by dipping a blueberry embedded pancake sausage in the baconnaise and then spitting it out and remarking that it seemed as though, "his tounge took a 'shit.'"
