They had four children, all girls. James Druck was a wealthy lawyer with his own private airplane, who specialized in defending insurance companies. [9] Lisa Druck went to St. John Lutheran School [10] and North Marion High School in Ocala. [11] After high school, Druck attended Horse murders and Henry the Hawk Main article: Horse murders According to ABC News, Lisa was "a prize-winning equestrian when her father was implicated" in the horse murders scandal, "an ugly plot to electrocute horses for insurance money."[13] James Druck became involved in a 1982 insurance fraud when, according to the convicted criminal and FBI informant Tommy "The Sandman" Burns, James Druck taught Burns how to kill show horses whose lives were insured, including one of Lisa Druck's own horses, the show jumper "Henry the Hawk."[14][15][5][16] Gwen and James Druck divorced that same year; Lisa Druck was 17 years old at the time.[17][18] Investigative reporter Lester Munson says that Lisa Druck was with her then-boyfriend, Louis Whelen, when Burns slipped into Henry the Hawk's barn with wires and alligator clamps provided by James Druck: they "saw Burns stealing away and chased after him, but The Sandman managed to escape. When the two returned to the barn, they found Henry lying dead in his stall.
