It was released on September 6, 2008[1]. The song features Kanye West and Lil Wayne both using some auto-tune in their verses. The song's instrumental is based on a mixed sample of M.I.A. singing "no one on the corner has swagga like us", from her hit single "Paper Planes".[2][3] The song was nominated for the Grammy for Best Rap Song and won the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 51st Grammy Awards.[4][5] This song was number 22 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Remixes A "sequel" to the track (titled "Swagger Like Us Pt. 2") has been recorded and will be featured on Jay-Z's The Blueprint³. It will feature Young Jeezy, André 3000, and Nas.[7] Jim Jones, Pusha T, Freeway, & Fabolous made a remix together. Diddy has made a freestyle featuring Cassie on "Swagga Like Us", and renamed it "Swagger Like Puff". Trey Songz has also made one under the name of "Swagga Like Songz". Also, Young Hot Rod and Tony Yayo, G-Unit Records Recording Artists, Drake, Freeway, Twista, and Flo Rida made their own freestyles to the song. Tony Yayo - Swagga Like Us Freestyle[8] On November 10, 2008, Chamillionaire released his own freestyle on the song for his mixtape Mixtape Messiah 5. Jim Jones has recorded "Jackin' Swagger from Us" with Twista, Noe and Lil Wayne which takes shots at T.I. and Jay-Z for allegedly stealing their styles. The song will be a bonus track on his album Pray IV Reign.[9][10].
